Nearly 55,000 fans took to the Yankee Stadium on Saturday night to watch the Army Black Knights take on Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish.

The final score of the Army-Notre Dame game was 27-3, with the Army taking their fifth loss of the season. The week before, the Army had been dealt a loss against the Air Force 42-22, while Notre Dame had a tremendous win against Utah at 28-3.

“We felt like our best chance was going to be to control the run, keep it thick, and try to keep it thick in the middle of the field,” said Army Coach Rich Ellerson. “We knew we were going to have a challenge from a matchup standpoint really across the board. We needed our safety to be in a lot of places. The common denominator is pressure. And that’s where we were a little disappointed because we knew if we were going to be successful consistently on defense, it was going to be with pressure. We were going to keep it on the field and force some bad throws, and we weren’t doing it consistently at all.”

The Army Black Knights have several games left in the season, but they one everybody’s talking about is Dec. 11 against the Navy Midshipmen. Don’t miss your chance to watch this event live from Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, get your Army Black Knights tickets today!

It was one of heck of a lacrosse season for the Army Cadets, who reached the second round of the NCAA tournament.

To get that far, Army pulled off an unthinkable upset by knocking off No. 2 Syracuse on the road in the opening round.

To many, it was a surprise and a huge accomplishment that the Cadets even reached the NCAA tournament.

Their disappointing second-round loss was overshadowed by what was a phenomenal season.

Not only did it included an upset of Syracuse, but the Cadets also knocked off rival Navy at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

The Army football team lost seven of its 12 games last season and fell to rival Navy for the seventh consecutive season.

But eight starters coming back on both sides gives the Black Knights confidence this season can be better.

It starts Sept. 4 at Eastern Michigan, then comes the first two home games of the season: Sept. 11 against Hawaii and Sept. 18 vs. North Texas. September ends with a road trip to Duke.

Three of Army’s four October games are at home, beginning with a contest against Temple on Oct. 2. Back-to-back road games away Oct. 9 against Tulane in the Louisiana Superdome, and against Rutgers Oct. 16 at the New Meadowlands Stadium. Following the bye week, Army plays host to VMI Oct. 30.

November begins with a home game against Air Force on Nov. 6, followed by a trip Nov. 13 to Kent State. The highlight of the schedule is Nov. 20: a meeting with Notre Dame in Yankee Stadium. The regular season concludes with the annual contest with Navy on Dec. 11 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, for the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy.
